5 tips to minimize the impact of the Atlassian Cloud price update
August 21, 2025
Want to minimize the impact of the price modification in Atlassian Cloud?
In today's post, we bring you some tips that will help you minimize the impact of the price change in Cloud, announced yesterday by Atlassian. We’ll also tell you everything you need to know about this recent news, to help you reduce uncertainty. Let's get started!
Which products are affected?
Fortunately, this price update no longer takes us by surprise. Although it is not a written rule, Atlassian has adopted the practice of changing its prices on an annual basis.
Once again, the pattern of updating Data Center prices in February and Cloud prices in October has been repeated. Of course, always accompanied by an improvement in their products in terms of capacity and functionality.
This year, prices will be updated on October 15th, and the change will apply to the following products:
-
Jira
-
Confluence
-
Jira Service Management
-
Bitbucket
-
Atlassian Guard
-
Teamwork Collection
-
Atlassian Government Cloud
If you would like to see the price changes in detail, Atlassian has created a table breaking down the new prices by product, plan type (Standard, Premium, or Enterprise), and subscription type (monthly or annual). You can check it out at this link.
Cloud improvements to address business challenges
As mentioned earlier, the Cloud price increase in October comes as no surprise, but rather continues the trend of recent years.
However, this pattern does not come alone, but is directly related to another of Atlassian's core values: the continuous improvement of its products, services, and solutions.
In the last year alone, we have witnessed more than 120 new features in Cloud, all of which linked to one of the 3 most pressing business needs today, according to Atlassian:
-
Connected Cloud apps, built to work together
-
Enterprise grade security, compliance, and scale
-
Intelligent data layer powers automation, insights, and search
On this page, you can consult at a glance the full list of all improvements introduced in Cloud over the last year. You choose whether to sort them by objective or by product.
What do you need to know about this price increase?
In the title of this article, we promised you the 5 essential tips to minimize the impact of the Atlassian price update. But we have to confess that there aren't any. And if someone offers them to you, without a prior study of your particular case… Be careful!
There are many complex scenarios to consider. Just as no two cases are the same, there is no universal magic formula: the ideal solution involves analyzing each case individually, as there may be advantages that apply exclusively to your case.
What we can actually do is put forward 3 very relevant factors to consider:
- Monthly or annual subscription?
With a monthly subscription, the price increase will apply to your next invoice. However, if you switch to an annual subscription, you can keep your price for another year.
- When does your annual subscription expire?
If your annual subscription expires before January 2026, you're in luck! You can renew early at no additional cost. If possible, consider a biennial renewal. This way, you will not only avoid this price increase, but also the one expected next year.
- Do you need to add users or purchase any new Cloud products?
If the answer is yes, now is obviously the right time to do so. You just need to confirm the operation before October 15.
