Moreover, Can It Do It as Well or Better Than a Consultant with an MBA?

If I had been asked this question before knowing and using ChatGPT for more than a year, I would have said it was impossible because, until then, I saw how Artificial Intelligence was capable of doing very well things that people do automatically, such as driving. However, when it came to creativity and knowledge management, the results were quite mediocre.

But now the situation has changed considerably. Against all odds, the professional human activities on which Artificial Intelligence is going to have the most impact are not related to tedious, boring, or dangerous tasks. Instead, companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and Adobe have focused on automating or adding value to tasks that we, knowledge or information professionals, have been performing until now. Those of us who spend the workday working with a computer or in team meetings, such as programmers, designers, administrators, translators, marketers, writers, editors, and more.

AI and Leadership: A New Paradigm

Regarding leadership, the situation could be different, or maybe not, because something common to all professions is that automation is arriving much earlier than expected. Just ask doctors, who have seen how more and more machines are doing tasks just as well or better than those previously reserved for professionals with six years of study, plus four years of residency, and then a lifetime of staying updated to meet the demands of their profession.

Thus, we see how professionals who were previously considered elite in the job market must adapt very quickly to the changes that technology implies. This makes us think that something very similar could happen in leadership roles. Even if it doesn't, it is highly recommended to consider what we will discuss next.

AI in Strategic Decision Making

Can Artificial Intelligence help us make better decisions? Can Artificial Intelligence be useful for better managing our company or team? Beyond the automation of certain routine and tedious tasks that executives still have to perform, could Artificial Intelligence help us with something as important as designing and tracking our organization's strategy?

To answer this question, it is worth considering what the work of designing a company's strategy entails and to what extent this depends on our creativity, experience, and following certain methods that have proven useful over time. This is especially true in recent years, where organizations are increasingly pressured to be competitive not only in generating business but also in brand generation and talent attraction, among many other things.

In this regard, our experience is showing very promising results, especially when we work with Artificial Intelligence in copilot mode. This means a technology that accompanies us and complements our decision-making work, for example, when designing a strategy and how to implement it.

Reducing Time and Improving Strategic Reflection

Aware that the process of defining and deploying the strategy usually requires a significant amount of time from the organization's executives, which often means that an adequate reflection process is not carried out, not all stakeholders or regulatory requirements are considered, and not all existing strategic alternatives are explored and tested. We believe it can be very valuable to facilitate the organization with a strategic reflection assisted by Artificial Intelligence, which will help reduce the time dedicated by executives, ensure the completeness and quality of this reflection, and above all, increase the agility and deployment of new decisions on the business's operations in all areas of the company.

Discover How in Our Upcoming Webinar

This novel and interesting topic is what we will focus on in the event AI-Assisted Strategy, where we will learn how this technology can help us set the scope of our strategic projects, select project participants, obtain company and regulatory context information, organize initial team training, structure and develop the company and regulatory context information to provide to our AI-based copilot, structure our strategic map, formulate and deploy projects and OKR objectives, and much more.
